Our History

Marshy Point Nursery has been a family owned and operated business since its conception in 1973. It started as a hobby for Harry Weiskittel who enjoyed growing rhododendrons from seed. This pastime, coupled with a passion for plants and color, inspired Harry to enter the nursery business. It was his belief that gardeners would be excited by the many new hybrids that were becoming available. This proved true and Marshy Point became a leader in introducing new azaleas and rhododendrons.

Thanks to our many loyal clients we have not only survived in a competitive pricing market, and still have reserved a section of the nursery for the hybridization of the new. In the next two years we will be introducing truly hardy fall and spring blooming azaleas that have proven to be good performers.

Harry and Austin Weiskittel are looking forward to sharing their dream of providing new and superior selections to be distributed and enjoyed. They are confident that their large selection of both new and old hybrids will excite their customers’ clients.

Marshy Point Nursery’s minimum delivery order is only a thousand dollars, and you can order the old standards if you want, but we won’t make you.
